New Mexico State University’s Student Success Center and Undergraduate Admissions and Orientation, along with the Hispanic Scholarship Fund and The Bridge of Southern New Mexico, will host a virtual HSF College 101 workshop from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Oct. 23. The free, bilingual, three-hour workshop will be held on Zoom to help middle and high school students and their families learn more about how to prepare for college.

The virtual event is free but registration is required at https://www.hsf.net/college-101. 

“Getting information about attending college is more important than ever,” said Seth Miner, director of Undergraduate Admissions and Orientation. “Programs like College 101 allow students and families to hear from universities the important information needed for going to college. Having representatives from multiple institutions allows students and parents to get a wide range of information.”

HSF College 101 identifies and addresses the various steps necessary to plan for a college education. NMSU officials will be panelists at HSF College 101, and sessions are focused on topics such as preparing for and applying to college, selecting a college, paying for college, writing a personal statement, researching financial aid and scholarship opportunities, and understanding the cost of a college education. The program is offered in English and Spanish.
