SANTA FE, NM – Today the Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department’s (EMNRD) Forestry Division kicked-off its 2022 Conservation Seedling Program spring sale. Approximately 30,000 seedlings are available for purchase online now at https://www.emnrd.nm.gov/sfd/seedlings/

A wide variety of tree and shrub species are available starting December 7, 2021, including ponderosa pine, chokecherry, native plum, Afghanistan pine, Arizona cypress, bur oak, and golden currant. Uses include windbreaks, erosion control, supporting wildlife habitat, watershed restoration, reclamation projects, and reforestation.

One-year-old, small container seedlings (10 cu inch container) of the same species are available in minimum lots of 49 for $80. Two-season, large container seedlings (40 cu inch container) are available in lots of 20 for $57. Bareroot seedlings are sold for $32 per bundle with a two-bundle minimum order. There is a $5 handling fee per order and an additional $10 fee per lot for all UPS orders. ALL SALES ARE FINAL. 

A complete list of seedlings, important program requirements, suggested uses, planting tips, and ordering instructions can be found on the Forestry Division website at https://www.emnrd.nm.gov/sfd/seedlings/. All orders must be placed by April 15, 2022. Distribution begins March 7, 2022, and ends April 22, 2022. 

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, seedlings will be shipped through UPS or distributed via curbside pick-up at the Forestry Division seedling warehouse located at 3250 Calle Princessa Juana (map) in Santa Fe. Warehouse hours are Thursdays and Fridays from 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.COVID-19 protocols are expected to be followed at all times, including wearing face masks and maintaining social distancing of 6 feet.

Methods of online payment include Discover Card, Mastercard, or Visa Card. Checks are accepted with mail-in application forms, which can be downloaded from the Forestry Division website. Landowners who need an order form mailed to them should contact Conservation Seedling Program Manager Carol Bada at carol.bada@state.nm.us or (505) 660-0412 by April 8, 2022. All proceeds from the spring seedling sale are reinvested back into the program.
