Coloring Book
Calling All New Mexico Artists

New Mexico Arts Art in Public Places program and New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs is seeking 5 - 26 artists to create coloring page illustrations for a multi-cultural, multi-lingual New Mexico themed alphabet book geared towards children in the 2-5 age range. A goal of this project is to encourage early childhood literacy through art creation and reading comprehension. Selected artists will be compensated $1,000 per illustration. This opportunity is open to all artists living and working in New Mexico.

ART EDUCATION: Community of Practice

The next CoP for arts educators in March will focus on completing the newly digitized Fine Arts Education Act (FAEA) funding application for the 2022-2023 school year. Upcoming CoPs will focus on supporting arts educators in various fields such as music, dance, media arts, visual arts, theater, and more. CoP attendees will help determine upcoming topics to meet their needs and interests.

The Literacy and Humanities Bureau of the New Mexico Public Education Department (NMPED) will be hosting its first Community of Practice (CoP) for arts educators on Thursday, February 24th from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM.

This CoP will focus on student filmmaking and the use of film in teaching art. The CoP will feature a presentation from Silver Bullet Productions, a New Mexico nonprofit focused on supporting education by using filmmaking and films as a vehicle for relevant learning. Pamela Pierce, CEO of Silver Bullet Productions, will present alongside Dr. Matthew Martinez, acting Director of the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture, past Lt. Gov. of Ohkay Owingeh, and the Executive Vice President of Silver Bullet Productions. This CoP will also feature breakout rooms for in depth discussions with other arts educators, as well as an opportunity for questions and answers with Silver Bullet Productions and NMPED.

FREE TRAINING PROGRAM
Become a Film and Television Production Assistant

Santa Fe Community College, Santa Fe County, Stagecoach Foundation, Inc., and Santa Fe Film Office announce applications open for free training program to become a film and television production assistant.

Applications due on February 16th, qualified applicants will get up to 160 hours paid work experience. The Professional Readiness for Technical Careers (PROTEC) will offer free training on weekends beginning February 26 with completion on March 27 at Santa Fe Community College.

Participant requirements: No prior workforce training is required. Participants must be a high school graduate or equivalent, aged 18 years old or older, have a valid driver's license, have proof of COVID-19 vaccination and be a Santa Fe County resident.

Southwest Contemporary has opened a call for artists for its fourth annual "12 New Mexico Artists to Know Now" program, a feature series published in print and a gallery exhibition. Artists living and working in New Mexico at any stage of their careers are invited to submit work in any discipline. All media are accepted, including painting, sculpture, new media, performance, printmaking, fiber arts, photography, mixed media, sound art, video, installation work, and more.

This year's call will be juried by Louis Grachos, executive director of SITE Santa Fe, and Marisa Sage, director and head curator of the New Mexico State University Art Museum in Las Cruces.

Through this program, we champion the most compelling, vibrant contemporary art being made in our home state and connect New Mexico artists to a regional, national, and international audience. Selected artists will have their work seen in a print and digital publication with an audience of 40,000+ people.

Request for Qualifications (RFQ)
Public Art Opportunity
Apache Junction, AZ

The City of Apache Junction AZ invites professional artists residing in AZ, CO, NM and UT to design, fabricate and install artwork that will enhance a new off-leash dog park. Artwork will activate the park and enhance the surrounding community, and consist of a focal artwork or series of artworks that respond to the park site and surrounding desert landscape. Artists will need to register to become a vendor with the City. It is free to register, but allow two days for your registration to become active. See link in Application Requirements.

Submittals will include: letter of interest, resume, up to 10 images of past projects, accompanying image description list, and names of three professional references.

Judges: Rob Covington of the NBA, Malcolm Jenkins of the NFL, Little League superstar Mo'ne Davis, and "I Matter" Founder Isabella Hanson.

Ten finalists will win $100 and the top poet wins $500. All winners will have their work included in the 2022 "I Matter" book.
