ALBUQUERQUE – This week, Rebecca Dow, top conservative for the Republican gubernatorial nomination, was given the Legislator of the Year from the New Mexico District Attorneys' Association for her efforts in backing law enforcement as a volunteer representative. Her pro-law enforcement record coupled with her reputation in Santa Fe as a vocal advocate for tougher laws against violent criminals and more funding for police garnered her the award.
"The brave men and women in New Mexico who put their lives at risk to protect us are truly the ones who deserve recognition," said Dow. "Progressive rule in the Roundhouse seems intent on making our cities more dangerous by defunding the police and ending commonsense laws like qualified immunity. It's clear that we need their input on how to better our communities now more than ever. I'm proud to have the backing of the law enforcement community because of our work together making New Mexico a safer place to live and raise a family. Their support is humbling and I look forward to continuing to work with these heroes."
