puentes 02Sara J. Puentes, 86, a resident of Bayard, NM entered eternal rest on Thursday, September 12, 2019 at Casa Angelina in Albuquerque, NM. She was born in Santa Rita, NM on November 2, 1932 to Pascual and Minnie Swartz Jimenez. Sara lived a life of unwavering faith and great love for her Jimenez and Puentes families. She had many loves, to include baking and teaching Catechism, but most importantly she loved her children and all her grandchildren. Sara is survived by her husband of 67 years Salvador (Chava) Puentes of the family home; her children, Lizzy Olney (Sam), Michael Puentes (Priscilla), Patrick Puentes (Rafaela), Amy Garcia (Frank) and Robert Puentes (Denise); her grandchildren, Royce Olney (Catie), Sara Sue Olney, Michelle Alvarado (Luis), Jessica Rodriguez (Dominic), Joseph Abalos, Stevie Solano (Nick), Talisa Ortega (Matt), Jon Paul Hill, Andrew, Alexandria and Angelo Lujan, and Jordan, Robert D, and Ryan Puentes; her great grandchildren, Royce M. and Owen Olney, Alexis, Ariel and Luis Jr. Alvarado, Brody, Emma and Camden Rodriguez; Camila and Tristan Solano; Sara leaves two brothers, Julian Jimenez (Rose), Arturo Jimenez (Genevieve); brothers and sisters in law, Samuel Puentes (Rosemary), Manuel Puentes (Cheryl), Lucille Delgado, Lucy Nuanes (Anastacio), Cecilia Puentes, and Erlinda Portillo; numerous nieces and nephews in the Jimenez and Puentes families.

Sara had caregivers during her illness, and the family would like to extend their love and appreciation to Gina Aralica from Shining Star Home Care, Lucille Delgado, Priscilla Barela, Joaquin and Grace De Luna, and the many beautiful friends and neighbors of Bayard and Grant County, and especially the loving Casa Angelina staff in Albuquerque, NM including her special Hospice nurse, Karen. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pascual B. Jimenez and Minnie Swartz Jimenez; sisters, Clara Martinez, Rosa Esquivel, Lucinda Garcia, Virginia Muñoz, Rita Holguin, and Mary Miranda; brothers, Pascual and Jenaro Jimenez; and brother and sisters in law, Margaret Udero, Emma Eres, Alfredo Puentes; her grandson, Salvador J. Puentes II; and son in law, Andy Lujan. Visitation for public will be Sunday, September 15 from 3-4pm followed by her rosary being recited by Deacon David Castañon at 4pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels. The funeral mass will be Monday, September 16 at 9:30am at Our Lady of Fatima Church with Father Martin Okonkwo officiating. Concluding service and interment will follow at Fort Bayard National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Royce Olney, Royce M. Olney, Owen Olney, Dominic Rodriguez, Nick Solano, Matt Ortega, Angelo Lujan, and Robert D. Puentes.
