martinez 02 1Guadalupe “Lupe” G. Martinez, 99, a resident of Santa Clara, NM entered eternal rest Friday, August 7, 2020 at Fort Bayard Medical Center. She was born July 2, 1921 in Santa Rita to Angel and Sylvia Garcia Martinez.  Lupe liked cooking, sewing, gardening, traveling, crossword puzzles and her Spanish Novelas. She loved her family and spending time with all her grandchildren. She is survived by her son, Jose Cruz and wife Phyllis; six grandchildren, Gloria Jean Martinez, Richard Nieto (Carolina), Yvonne Gomez (Ruben), Patricia Jackson and the late (John Jackson), Pam Cruz companion Leslie, Christopher Cruz (Lucy); eighteen great grandchildren and twenty great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Elizabeth Cordova; two brothers, Isaias and Seferino Martinez; three sisters, Bonifacia Castañon, Elvira Gonzales, and Elifonsa Vasquez; two great grandchildren, Josiah Roybal; Dane Cruz. Visitation will be Thursday, August 13 from 5-6pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the holy rosary being recited by Deacon Deacon David Castañon to begin at 6pm. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 14 at 10am at Santa Clara Catholic Church with Father Casmir Anozie officiating.  Concluding service, cremation will take place at Terrazas Crematory. Inurnment will take place at Santa Clara cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Paul Huerta, Jace Jackson, Toby Martinez, Steven Roybal, Isaiah Cruz, Daniel Roybal, Adien Martinez, and Gabriel Nieto.  Honorary pallbearers will be all family and friends. COVID-19 restrictions are still at 25 capacity and masks required. Arrangements are with Terrazas Funeral Chapels and Crematory “Trusted care for the ones you love” ~ 575-537-0777.
