freddieFreddie Ann Mrotzek Hawkins died July 1, 2020, in Santa Clarita, California, at her sister Lelia Mrotzek's home from breast cancer at the age of 84.

Freddie Ann was born March 15, 1936, in Silver City, New Mexico, to parents Frederick and Mary Long Mrotzek. She said that when her daddy realized he was having another girl, and no boy, he wanted to name her after him! Freddie felt like she was treated differently than her sisters, spending a lot of time with her daddy. She was the second daughter of five: Louise, Freddie Ann, Roberta, Kay, and Lelia. Freddie won a beauty contest in 1951 and was crowned Air Force Queen.

Freddie Ann married on December 22, 1955 and had two children: Mark and Trudy. The family lived in Truth or Consequences for many years. She then moved to Norwalk, California and worked as an operator for American Telephone and Telegraph for many years. After retirement she enjoyed volunteering at the library, playing golf, and mentoring young men. Freddie Ann loved her family more than anything and always looked forward to visits.

She was a friend and counselor to many where she lived in Norwalk. She never met a stranger. When she mentored young men, she counseled them to change the direction of their lives.

Freddie Ann is survived by her son Mark Hawkins of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico and daughter Trudy Williams and husband Paul, grandson Adam, great-granddaughter Harlow, all of Shelbyville, Tennessee. She is also survived by all of her four sisters: Louise and husband Oren Teel of Selma, California; Roberta and Tom Shelley of Silver City, New Mexico; Kay and Tony Thele of Fresno, California; Lelia Mrotzek of Santa Clarita, California.

Cremation has taken place and burial took place upon her daddy's grave at Memory Lane Cemetery in Silver City, New Mexico.
