laneLois was born October 7, 1929 and entered eternal rest November 21, 2020. She was a ranch woman through and through, some of her best memories and times were the leanest of years on a windy plain growing up near Yeso, NM. She graduated from Fort Sumner High School at the age of 16 and attended UNM for one short miserable year before transferring to NMSU where she graduated in 1949 and went on to complete her Master’s degree. She worked various jobs, teaching and as a county extension agent before meeting and marrying Leslie Gene Lane in 1960. In 1970 they moved to Silver City and opened Silver City Plumbing and Heating, which they ran jointly for over 25 years.

Lois was a hard worker, took no nonsense and is fondly remembered by her surviving family; daughter, Ann and Wes Grimes, son, Dale and Kari Lane; Grandchildren, Breanne (Dakota) Door, Mathew (Jessica Kenigson) Grimes, Devin Grimes, Alli (Adam Cox) Lane, Kendra (Cass) Romeo, Nichole Grimes, Holly Grimes, Jasper Lane and Dutch Lane. She found joy in her great grandsons, Stone and Lane Door. She was preceded in death by her cherished parents, Myrtle and Lee Jasper, her favorite brother, Von, and her loving husband, Gene. Services are postponed due to the current situation but your thoughts and prayers are so gratefully received by the family. She will be memorialized with Gene in Memory Lane Cemetery, her ashes spread also on the ranch in Yeso. Her heart will always rest with her beloved Aggies.
