sabin pictureJames (Jim) E. Sabin, 72, died December 2, 2020, in his home in Mimbres, New Mexico. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Bright Funeral Home. No services will be held at this time. Jim was born June 16, 1948 in El Paso, TX to Elizabeth and Fred Sabin. He was a star basketball player at Eastwood High School and briefly attended the University of Texas at El Paso. He worked for NASA in Las Cruces before returning to El Paso to work with his father running Sabin and Son Refrigeration until his father’s passing. He then founded Sabin Industries, which operated one of the largest ice plants in the region.  Eventually, he turned his efforts and skill to fire and security systems, working side by side with his devoted wife, Karen, running South West Integrated Systems LLC.

He enjoyed fishing, building model railroads, and even dabbled in making jewelry from raw turquoise. He was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He will be deeply missed by his friends and family. Jim is survived by his wife of 35 years, Karen Sabin; his son, James T. Sabin and wife, Rebecca of Dallas, TX; grandchildren Evan and Ryan; stepson Patrick Bruders of Algiers, LA; two sisters, Elizabeth Johnson and husband, Ron of Albuquerque, NM, Carolynn Worstell and husband, John of Albuquerque, NM. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth W. Baird, father Fredrick James Sabin, and sister Peggy Lynn Sabin. Condolences may be sent to PO Box 1789, Silver City, NM 88062.
