cosby picCurtis “Scott” Cosby died December 12, 2020 in Mimbres, NM. Scott was born in National City, CA on March 22, 1949 to Shirley and Richard Cosby. He grew up in Redondo Beach, CA. In his teens, he moved to Hobbs, NM where he graduated from Hobbs High School. He attended New Mexico State University where he was fortunate enough to have a class taught by Clyde Tombaugh, and in 1974 earned his Bachelor’s degree in Biology. He lived in Farmington, NM for over 28 years, and was a long-time employee of Public Service Company of New Mexico, retiring in 2002. He was fascinated by all things science and astronomy, and never missed a chance to travel or be outdoors.

He is survived by his partner Karen Oglesbee, of Mimbres, daughter Tera Marquez of Camarillo, CA, and 4 grandchildren Jonah Marquez, Aidan Marquez, Cezanne Marquez, and Asante Marquez. He is also survived by his sister, Deborah Cosby of Redondo Beach, CA,

All arrangements are being made through Bright Funeral Home.  No formal services will be held.  In lieu of flowers or gifts the family requests donations in his name be made to the Clyde And Patricia Tombaugh Endowed Chair (funds the Tombaugh Fellowship) at NMSU (https://advancing.nmsu.edu/givenow.)
