carolbaumgartnerCarol Baumgartner was born in Dassel, MN on January 20, 1942 to Doreen Anderson and Carlyle (Ole) Olson. She and her husband Tom, loved the Silver City area and decided before they were married in 1972 that this is where they wanted to live. This became a reality in 1990.  Carol started in Real Estate sales, earned her Brokers license and was president of Silver City Regional Association of Real Estate. She was one of the first presidents of the Multiple Listing Board, served as president of what is now known as the Silver City Regional Association of Realtors, and served on several New Mexico State Association of Realtors committees. She also served on the Grant County 5-year Comprehensive Plan, the Extra territorial Jurisdiction Committee on the Grant County Subdivision Review Committee.

Carol obtained her broker’s license in 1999 and joined Smith Real Estate & Property Management the same year.  She earned a Graduate of Realtors Institute (GRI) designation in 2003.

She loved meeting people and helping find them the right home. She loved all animals and showed her dogs for many years. She took classes in photography in the past and at one time intended photography to be her vocation.

She is survived by her husband, Tom of the family home; her sister, Karen Thomas and sister in-law, Jean Olson and seven nieces and nephews.  

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, September 17 at 4pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with Harold Bray officiating.  In lieu of flowers family requests donations be made to the High Desert Humane Society.
