lillianwhite

Lillian White, 88, a resident of Pinos Altos, NM entered eternal rest Thursday, May 19, 2022 at Fort Bayard Medical Center. She was born in Southall, England to her parents Walter Hopla and Mary Ann Williams on December 16, 1933. Lillian grew up in London, England and often told stories of being a young child during World War II.

She had memories of having family meals interrupted by air raid sirens and having to grab their plates, run downstairs to the bomb shelter and being scared to find out what had been hit when they were able to come out.  This is one of the things that made her a brave, strong survivor.

When Lillian was a teenager, she was in a park near the American Air Force base where she met the love of her life, Daniel, or as she called him Danny.  They were married August 23, 1952 in England. Danny was sent back to the states and she followed 3 months later to meet him in Victorville, California.  They eventually made it back to New Mexico and in 1961 she proudly became a citizen of the United States of America.

She had several different jobs through the years and retired from the Grant County Treasurers office, a job that she truly enjoyed because she was able to meet, help and visit with so many people from the community.

Lillian loved knitting; she made many beautiful baby shoes, sweaters and afghans that anyone who received one still treasures. She looked forward to holidays and large family get- togethers where she always made sure everyone had plenty to eat and was having a good time. She treated everyone with love, kindness & grace. She was an amazing daughter, wife, mom, granny, sister, great granny, auntie and friend.

Lillian lived a full, wonderful life and will be missed.

Lillian she is survived by one son Brian White and wife Elizabeth of Placitas, NM; her two daughters Jennifer White of Silver City, NM and Rachel White and husband Mike Head of Pinos Altos, NM; her six grandchildren, Amy, Tyler, Sarah, Magen, Sharilyn, Ryan; her nine great- grandchildren, Dax, Adrian, Antonio, Alex, Corbin, Owen, Hannah, Zoey and Ayden; her one sister Jennifer Frank of London, England and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Daniel, her two sons Roger and Vincent White; her three brothers Tom, Brian and David; her six sisters, Ida, Maureen, Ann, Margaret, Beth and Janet all of the UK;

Visitation will be held Friday, May 27 at 5:00-6:00pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the Rosary to commence at 6:00pm with the Monks of Virgin de Guadalupe Monastery reciting.
