Mary C. Padilla, 82, a resident of Hurley, NM entered eternal rest Saturday, August 13, 2022 at her residence surrounded by her family. Mary was born March 18, 1940 to her parents Sofio and Julia Chavez in Hurley, NM. Mary's family will always remember her warm smile and loving hugs. She loved her kids and grandkids with her whole heart. She also loved making fresh tortillas to go with her papas and red chili. Her birthday was her favorite day of the year. She enjoyed celebrating with her family, but what really made her happy was seeing all of her babies happy. Her favorite pastimes were doing word searches, praying her rosary, playing caniquita, and of course drinking her coffee.
She is survived by her son Leo Padilla (Donna) of Arenas Valley, NM; her two daughters Merlinda Gutierrez (Joe) of Hurley, NM and Bernice Padilla (companion-Jose Rubio) of Hurley, NM; her two brothers Manny Chavez (Corrine) of Hurley, NM and Raymond Chavez (Christy) of Hurley, NM; her daughter-in-law Mary Helen Padilla; and her numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leo G. Padilla; her two sons Ruben Padilla (Mary Helen) and Barney Padilla; her two brothers, Pete and Robert Chavez.
Visitation will be Friday, August 19, 2022 from 9:00am-9:30am Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the holy rosary being recited by Deacon Art Gutierrez to commence at 9:30am. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on the same day at 11:00am at Infant Jesus Shrine with Father Casmir Anozie officiating. Concluding service an interment will follow at Hurley cemetery. Pallbearers are Andy Padilla, Andy Padilla Jr, Jacob Woods, Azelia Cortez, Noah Spurgeon, Jeremy Spurgeon, Juan Woods Jr. and Frankie Legarda. Honorary Pallbearers are Daniel Rodriguez, Jose Rubio Jr, Leanne Gutierrez, Anthony Padilla, Chuey Abril, Arlene Gutierrez, Emily Padilla, Maxine Padilla, Margaret Padilla and Jr. Padilla.
