smithobitjpgSandra A. Smith, of Silver City passed away peacefully in her home on December 6, 2022.

She was born in Lovington NM on November 15, 1951 and lived in Morrow, Louisiana and Capitan, NM, before moving to Silver City. She graduated from Cobre in 1969, and married her lifelong partner, Larry Smith in 1971. Sandy was a rodeo secretary, Avon salesperson-receiving numerous awards, aunt, 4-H Leader, and mother. She prided herself in her organization skills, crafting, and collecting nativities and all things corn.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Barnie and Ruth Hayes, sister Sharon Littleton, brother Kent Hayes, half sister Betty Dean, half brother Johnnie Dale Hayes, mother-in-law Donnie (Connell) Smith, father-in-law David Pat Smith.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Larry Smith of the family home, her daughter Sharon (Weech) and husband Mitchell Young of Capitan and their children Justin(Denver) Jake (US Army-Anchorage, AK) and wife Kayla, Josh (Capitan) and fiancé Sydney Zamora; her son Wes of Safford, AZ and wife Julie and their children Justin Longbrake (Morenci, Az) and Josh Longbrake (San Diego); her stepson Jay Smith of Cliff; brother-in-law David Smith and wife Berta of Mimbres, sister-in-law Margaret Coley of Roswell, and brother-in-law, Grady Littleton of Silver City, and lifelong friend Wilma Young. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and all the neighborhood kids she adopted.

We will be receiving friends and family for visitation between 10:00am-12:00pm on Friday, December 9, 2022 at Terrazas Funeral Chapels.
