WNMU women's golf will open the season headed north to face several former Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference foes in the UC-Colorado Springs participating in the Farmer's Insurance Samuel Proal Invitational.

At the completion of round 1 over the par 72 Pueblo Country Club track, Western sits alone in 10th place posting a team score of 327, 29 over par. Dixie State leads with a team score of 300, five shots better than second place than Regis University and Colorado Mesa. Eight teams are then bunched between 312 and 319.

Lexi Lucero paced the Lady Stangs with a 79 followed closely by Brenda Dominguez with an 80. Amanda Portillo posted an 83 while Julia Enriquez & Victoria Hart rounded out the Stang scoring with 85's.

Chelsea Medina and Isabella Peralta competed for WNMU as individuals (scores do not count towards team totals). Medina fired an 84 and Peralta posted an 86.

Faith Kilgore of Colorado Christian posted a 70 to finish day 1 in first place 2 shots ahead of Colorado Mesa's Brandi McClean.

Play will conclude today in the fourteen team field.
