The Silver City Grant County Chamber of Commerce has extended the deadlines to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, June 27, to register vendor booths in Gough Park and complete entries for the parade in downtown Silver City for the July 4th celebration.

Chamber President Scott Terry said, "We want to make certain that everyone wanting to participate in the parade or have a vendor booth in Gough Park has time to get forms filled out and returned to the chamber office." There are only nine available booth spaces left in Gough Park for vendors. The food vendor spaces have sold out. Terry added, "The parade is going to be pretty long. It's a political year, so there will be lots of politicians passing out their information along the parade route. The Silver High School Marching Band will be on hand, the Forest Service has a Smokey the Bear float celebrating his 70th birthday, and we will honor three Grant County Gold Star Mothers as our Grand Marshalls for the parade." There will be lots of cars, old tractors, horses, floats, and a couple of music groups will be playing in the parade. The theme for the 2014 celebration is "Stars and Stripes Forever."

Some of the activities and times:
· Kiwanis Cowboy Breakfast: 7 to 10 a.m. in Gough Park
· Vendor Booths, food booths, music, live bands, and kiddie rides in Gough Park: 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
· Parade begins at 10 a.m.
· Kiwanis BBQ Lunch: 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
· Fireworks display: when it gets dark, usually between 9 to 9:30 p.m.
