On Thursday, April 9, the WNMU Intramural Gym became a teaching location for the Grant County DWI Prevention Program, which hosted a "Day in the Life of a DWI Offender." The program provided students with the chance to experience the various steps in the DWI process, from using an impaired driving simulator to being sentenced by an actual (retired) judge. Students also wore goggles which simulated levels of intoxication and attempted to pass a sobriety test that was given by actual Grant County officers.

Other organizations also participated in the program, including Silver Regional Sexual Assault Support Services, which discussed the role that intoxication plays in sexual assaults, and the Emergency Medical Services of Gila Regional Medical Center, which was demonstrating the equipment used to maintain the survivability of an intoxicated patient.

A Day in the Life of a DWI Offender is an interactive event, where participants experience the consequences of driving impaired.

There are six (6) different areas participants must go through:

Field sobriety tests / arrest.
