"Ray's Barn" oil painting by local artist Jeanne Dickerson.

The Grant County Art Guild's Pinos Altos Art Gallery is again welcoming visitors this weekend with a large display of paintings in all mediums, ceramic works, photography, fabric art, needlework and much more. This seasonal gallery is located in the historic Hearst Church at 14 Golden Avenue and is open from 10 a.m. till 5 p.m. on Friday Saturday, Sunday and major holidays through October 5. The Grant County Art Guild is a nonprofit organization in support of local artists and fine crafters. There are currently 39 members of the Guild.

On Friday, June 6, and Saturday, June 7, the featured artist at the gallery is Jeanne Dickerson, a past winner of the prestigious Purchase Prize "Best in Show" award. Jeanne paints landscapes, still lifes and florals in oils, acrylics, watercolors and pastels. As featured artist, she will have a special showing of her latest works.

Stacy Schwarz , known for her whimsical clay sculptures, will be the featured artist on Sunday, May 8. Her piece "Tail-Chasing Dragon" won Best in Show in crafts at the guild's opening show of the season. Stacy calls her art form functional sculpture, and works in stoneware and porcelain, or a combination of the two, dictated by the animal she wishes to depict. Her pieces are always delightfully amusing and useful!

The Pinos Altos Art Gallery is just a few miles from Silver City, and many historians find the old Hearst Church fascinating. Browsers are always welcome and admission is free. For more information online, look for www.gcag.org.
