(ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.) – PNM recently launched a new energy efficiency program, the PNM Home Energy Checkup, aimed at helping customers save energy in their home and money on their electric bill. This program is now available to PNM customers in Silver City and surrounding areas.

Assessors will be in the area the weeks of June 16 and June 27, so customers wanting a checkup should call to schedule today. Customers can schedule their assessments and installations by calling 1-855-775-6491.

In the new program, for only $40, customers receive a programmable thermostat, compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs), faucet aerators and low-flow showerheads. In addition, a qualified assessor will complete a walk-through assessment of the customer's home and install each energy-saving measure. The assessor will also help identify other ways customers can save energy and reduce their bills, including providing rebates for ENERGY STAR appliances.
This is just one of several new programs launched this spring. Residential customers also have access to rebates on certain energy saving home cooling systems and pool pumps while business customers have access to new programs as well. In addition to the new programs, PNM will also continue many of the energy-saving programs available today including in-store discounts on CFLs and LED bulbs, the refrigerator-recycling rebate program and programs for businesses of any size.

Energy efficiency programs have the potential to save enough energy each year to power thousands of homes, avoid millions in fuel costs and reduce both carbon emissions and water use associated with the production of electricity.
