The Grant County Art Guild has announced that they are extending the entry date for their 29th Annual Purchase Prize Award Exhibit to August 11. The $2,400 in cash prizes, with the $1,500 purchase prize for "Best in Show," entices artists' entries from across the state. The theme for this year's show is "A Journey to Realism." Any artist over 18 years old who is a New Mexico resident is eligible to enter. The artwork entered must be original two-dimensional works of realistic art in the media categories of oils, acrylics, watercolors or pastels. The artwork must have been produced in the past two years and not have been previously exhibited in this show. For additional guidelines and entry form, go to the Guild's Website: www.gcag.org.

The Grant County Art Guild is a nonprofit organization of 40 local artists and fine crafters who show their work at the Pinos Altos Art Gallery, located in the historic Hearst Church. The gallery is open from 10 a.m. till 5 p.m. on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and major holidays through October 5. The Purchase Prize Award Exhibit will open with a reception on September 23 and will be open to the public the next two extended weekends, closing on October 5.
