The Gila Regional Medical Center (GRMC) Foundation exists to help the hospital find resources for many projects. Among the projects most dear to the Foundation Board Members is the Scholarship Committee.

Each year the Foundation awards between $15,000 and $20,000 to nursing and health care students through a number of scholarships available. This year there were quite a few applications for the scholarship monies. The money was spread out among first and second year nursing students as well as some BSN and Master's degree students and one student in hospital marketing. Altogether assistance was provided to 16 applicants. The quality of the applications and the grade point averages of this year's applicants was outstanding and the Board is excited to be able to help these worthy students. Most, but not all, applicants are GRMC employees. Two of the scholarship recipients are Mother and Daughter—one in first year nursing and and an RN pursuing a BSN.

Scholarship applications are available from Human Resources at GRMC and are due in to HR by June 25th each year. Anyone wishing to donate to the Gila Regional Medical Center Foundation scholarship funds or to apply for the scholarships next year can contact any member of the Board for information. Current chairperson of the Scholarship Committee is Sharye Hardesty. Chair of the Foundation Board is Susan Sumrall.
