The Silver City Public Library will celebrate Library Card Sign-Up Month by offering free library card replacements between 9:00am and 5:00pm Wednesday, September 24. Each person's first card is free, but the library normally charges $5.00 to replace lost cards. "We offer free library card replacement days once or twice every year. It is a great opportunity, especially for children and community members who haven’t visited the library for a long time and who have lost their cards," explained Lillian Galloway, programming and outreach librarian.

Besides the books, audiobooks, DVDs, CDs, and magazines available for checkout with a library card, members can now use their cards to borrow eBooks and downloadable audiobooks at New Mexico Library To-Go. Library card holders can log into Tutor.com, where students and job-seekers can get resources, practice materials, and one-on-one chat tutoring in all subject areas. A library card also allows access to a newspapers database and other online resources. Please contact the library for more information on accessing these resources. The Silver City Public Library is located at 515 W. College Avenue, and can be reached at 575-538-3672 or ref@silvercitymail.com.
