Gary King will make his first Silver City appearance of the campaign at the Grant County Democratic Party public forum at WNMU Miller Library, Wednesday, September 17, 5:30pm. In recognition of National Hispanic Heritage Month, the forum will be entitled "Our Political Environment and the Latino Vote," and will address the political perspective of Hispanic Americans as we approach the November 4 vote.

The panel will consist of Senator Howie Morales, moderator; Attorney General Gary King, Democratic candidate for Governor; Democratic candidates for State Representative Districts 38 and 39, Terry Fortenberry and Rodolfo "Rudy" Martinez; Frances Vasquez, former Silver Consolidated Schools official and Secretary of the Grant Co. Democratic Party; and Jason Amaro, New Mexico Wildlife Federation Board member. In light of the very low turnout for the primary elections in June, the panel will analyze what does and doesn't motivate the Hispanic population to vote, what inhibits voting, what Hispanics are looking for from their government, and why voting this year is important to everyone in the community.

In addition to participating in the forum as a panel member, Attorney General King will arrive at 5:30pm to give attendees an opportunity to personally meet and greet him prior to the beginning of the public forum at 6:00pm.

"We hope all good Democrats in Grant County – and independents and Republicans who want to help improve our nation, state, and county – will come out to greet Mr. King, our Party's standard bearer," said Magdaleno Manzanarez, Vice Chair of the GCDP. "Our own Howie Morales has strongly urged his supporters to get behind Gary King and the whole Democratic slate," said Grant Co. Democratic Chair Mary Hotvedt. "We need to elect the whole Democratic team to put us back on the right path for New Mexico, end gridlock in Washington, and keep Grant County functioning well for all its citizens. "

As usual, refreshments will be served following the forum. For more information call 654-6060 or email grantcountydemocrats@gmail.com.
