The Friday evening opening reception for the Grant County Art Guild's Southwest Birds Art Show at Bear Mountain Lodge was an exciting and fun evening for both members and guests. Judge Lois Duffy was thanked for lending her expertise and making the hard decisions and Linda Brewer was shown appreciation for her hospitality and sharing her very special facility for the show. The music of Becky Burnell was enjoyed by all.

The following artists were awarded ribbons for their winning entries: Best of Show was awarded to Patsy Teiken for her mixed media painting "Fire Ridge Grackles." Mark Bowen's "Raven Fetish," a large steel and stone sculpture, welcomed guests at the front table and was given the blue ribbon for first place. "Pure Joy," a painting in oil by Karen Danhauer, took second place. Kate McNally Robertson's oil painting "Vermilion Flycatcher" was awarded third place. Honorable mentions were given to Jackie Blurton for her watercolor painting "Great Horned Owlet;" Curve-billed Thrasher," a watercolor and mixed media painting by Patsy Teiken, and "Colorful Cholla with Bird," photography on canvas by Sandy Feutz.

The 47 works of art that compose the 2015 Southwest Birds Art Show will be available for viewing at Bear Mountain Lodge from 7 a.m. till 6 p.m. 7 days a week through April 25.
