Food is Life-The Volunteer Center of Grant County

Comcast and the Mimbres Region Arts Council are coming together once again on Saturday, April 25, 2015, from 9am to 3pm, for the 14th Annual Comcast Cares Day.

Every year on Comcast Cares Day, Comcast brings together tens of thousands of Comcast employees, their families and friends to make a positive impact in neighborhoods across the country. Silver City and the Mimbres Region Arts Council benefit greatly from this community event, this year beautifying the Volunteer Center of Grant County (501 E 13th Street).

The theme is Food is Life. All area residents are encouraged and welcome to attend: Students, teachers, parents, volunteers, artists, MRAC members. Join the celebration and participate in making and installing clay fruit and vegetable tiles on the front wall and cob bench at the Volunteer Center.

The Comcast Foundation will also provide grants to local community partner organizations across the country on behalf of everyone who volunteers on Comcast Cares Day. The grants will help Comcast's community partners continue their mission of serving the community throughout the year. To date, the Comcast Foundation has awarded more than $16 million in grants to partner organizations to match the efforts of our volunteers on Comcast Cares Day.

At the Mimbres Region Arts Council we firmly believe that the future foundation of our community lies in its young people. We understand the importance of ensuring our future generations have a grounded and well-rounded appreciation of how the arts affect our everyday lives.

Any members of the community who share the same vision are welcome to bring their volunteer energy to the mural wall. Comcast will provide free hot dogs and sodas for lunch to all who participate.
