Border Area Mental Health Services (BAMHS) will provide a New Mexico Alcohol Server Training class in Silver City on Tuesday, May 19. Instruction is from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Suite 11 at the agency's office at 315 S. Hudson St. in Hudson Plaza.

The training is mandated by the state's Alcohol and Gaming Division for all people who work in any alcohol-related businesses, according to Steve May, a program specialist with BAMHS and a licensed alcohol server training instructor.

"People working in lounges, retail package sales outlets, wineries, restaurants with beer and wine licenses, and fraternal organizations that are licensed to sell alcoholic spirits to their memberships, must be certified every three years," May explained. He said the training is provided to individuals who need first-time certification as well as to those who need to become recertified.

Class fee is $35, May said, and is payable with cash, business checks, money orders, or cashier's checks. A temporary permit will be issued to participants at the conclusion of the class.

For more information or to pre-enroll for the class, contact Steve May in Silver City at (575) 388-4497.
