"Social Justice and the goal of creating respectful immigration policies" will be the topic at the 10:00 a.m. service on Sunday, October 4th, at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Silver City, 3845 N. Swan Street.

The Fellowship's Social Justice Committee Chair Fran Browne, along with other members of the committee, will provide highlights of work on the Fellowship's current Social Justice project: "The goal of creating respectful immigration policies which create a just and sustainable future". One such highlight is helping create and work with the Immigrant Justice Network of Grant and Luna Counties, an advocacy and education group.

Members of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship committed last November to work, as each member found possible, for positive changes in immigration issues such as the health and safety of undocumented detainees; sanctuary for immigrants, and cross border community development.

According to Board Chair Carol Morrison, "Our common affirmation of respect for the inherent worth and dignity of every person and the interdependent web of all existence calls us to act. "

Coffee, tea, cookies and conversation will follow the program. Guests and friends are welcome!
