The Silver City Public Library regularly hosts free technology learning opportunities in partnership with other community organizations, and their schedule for September and October is now set. "We are pleased to partner again with Adult Education Services, whose director will be leading workshops on basic technology topics here at the library," said Lillian Galloway, programming and outreach librarian and coordinator of technology training partnerships. "Our organizations share many of the same goals, like offering learning opportunities for job-seekers to boost their skills and entrepreneurs to harness the benefits of technology."

The upcoming workshops are as follows:

Basic Internet, September 15, 10:00am-12:00pm: workshop on how to safely search the internet and how to use it as a resource

Basic Email, Friday, September 23, 2:00-4:00pm: how to use email professionally, attach files/pictures, and how to manage email

Microsoft Word, Friday, October 14, 2:00-4:00pm: how to use templates and ribbon functions

Microsoft Excel, Thursday, October 20, 10:00am-12:00pm: How to use Excel for personal and business accounting

There will be an open lab for practice, questions, and troubleshooting on Friday, October 7, 2:00-4:00pm. Participants can use library-provided laptops and tablets to practice their skills and become familiar with different devices. Knowledgeable library staff and volunteers will be available to answer questions. Participants can also bring their own laptops or mobile devices for troubleshooting help.

"Providing free technology training in the community is very important to us," said Galloway. "Helping more people gain access to technology is an important way to contribute to economic development, education, and community engagement in Grant County."

The Silver City Public Library is located at 515 W. College Avenue in Silver City, on the corner of College and Cooper Street. For more information about technology training and other library services, contact Lillian Galloway at 575-538-3672 or ref@silvercitymail.com.
