In celebration of National Co-op Month, the Silver City Food Co-op has partnered with Silver City Main Street to present In Defense of Food on Thursday, October 6 at 4 pm and 7 pm. "Join best-selling author Michael Pollan on a fascinating journey to answer the question: What should I eat to be healthy? Cutting through confusion and busting myths and misconceptions, In Defense of Food shows how common sense and old-fashioned wisdom can help us rediscover the pleasures of eating and avoid the chronic diseases so often associated with the modern diet."

Each showing of the film will be followed by a discussion with local food producers and organizations. Information will be available to help connect community members to food resources in our community. The Silver City Food Co-op will offer drawings for boxes of great prizes in celebration of National Co-op Month.

Information and panel discussion will include presenters from the Guadalupe Montessori School, Susan Van Auken, former board member of the Silver City Food Co-op, Ken Barr, Grant County and SWNM Food Policy Council, Kendra Milligan, Grant County Neighborhood Orchards and Ralph Gauer of Dusty Bear Farms.

The mission of the Silver City Food Co-op is to provide and distribute high quality products and to promote cooperative and nutritional education to our members-owners, our customers, and our community.
