Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Silver City, 3845 N. Swan Street, September 25, 10 am. "A Westerner's Look at the Koran" Michael Scherer is a retired construction manager who is a reader of world history including history of religions. He lived and worked in Egypt from 1985 through 1990, and had numerous Muslim friends and colleagues while there. The growing turmoil in today's world, some of it blamed on the Koran, has led him to do some of his own studies of that sacred book, along with Islamic tradition, to try to reconcile the good feelings he took away from Egypt with today's intercultural difficulties. Mr. Scherer presented his thoughts via a well-received course as part of the Western Institute of Lifelong Learning this past Spring, and he has continued to think deeply about these matters. Please join us for this interesting program. We will have coffee and conversation after the service.
