Quemado, NM, January 13, 2017' The Quemado Ranger District is planning to conduct a prescribed fire beginning the week of January 23, weather permitting, and on into the spring as conditions allow. The prescribed fire is for pile burning on approximately 250 acres.

The pile burn is located approximately 20 miles south of Quemado, immediately east of NM State Hwy 32, in the vicinity of Armijo Spring Campground and the Sobre De Gallo subdivision.

Smoke and flames will be noticeable during days of ignitions and smoke may linger at night and early morning. Prescribed fires are managed with firefighter and public safety as first priority.

Smoke may be present along NM State Hwy 32, drivers are encouraged to drive defensively.
