Mimbres, NM, March 20, 2017'For Immediate Release. The Gila National Forest, Wilderness Ranger District and the Sapillo Volunteer Fire department invited the public to an informal meeting on March 23 at 6:00 p.m. This meeting will be to discuss the upcoming 2017 fire season, prescribed fire projects and other forest projects on the Wilderness Ranger District.

"We want to include an opportunity for our neighbors in our community to share their thoughts and concerns with us prior to fire season. We also want to provide some information on how we make decisions on managing starts inside and outside the wilderness; as well as a general update of projects within the district," said Wilderness District Ranger Rachelle Huddleston-Lorton.

The meeting will be held on March 23 at 6:00 p.m. at the Sapillo Fire Station is west of Lake Roberts off of Highway 35 in Mimbres. For questions about the meeting you may call the district at (575) 536-2250.
