In 1000 A.D. there were more people living near the Mimbres River than there are today. They made beautiful black-on-white pottery from which we have been able to learn about their life style.

On Saturday, December 2, Bill Hudson of the Imogen F. Wilson Education Foundation, will lead a guided tour of the old Mattocks Ruin and around the historic buildings which include the 1882 doctor's office and the Mimbres Museum. The tour begins at 1 PM and takes about 1 hour. It is an easy walk around the prehistoric Mimbreno village site. Bring your camera and wear comfortable walking shoes. All ages are welcome.

The museum will be open from 11 AM - 3 PM for those visitors wanting to look around before or after the walking tour. It is a fine way to spend the day and support the Imogen Wilson Foundation in its efforts to maintain the museum and the historic buildings.

Bring a lunch and picnic on the beautiful shady front porch. Pick out Christmas gifts in our shop. The Mimbres Culture Heritage Site is located between mile marker 3 and 4 - just a block off highway 35 on Sage Drive.
