June 2, at 10:00 am, 3845 North Swan Street - “What's the Difference between Prayer and Magic.” Lynda Aiman-Smith will lead an exploration of the meaning of prayer that goes beyond the "Now I lay me down to sleep" way of praying many of us learned as children. She will delve into the ideas of magic, staying away from our popular concepts of the idea of what happens on a stage with a guy pulling a rabbit out of a hat. Aiman-Smith will bring in ideas from anthropology, sociology, religious studies, mystics, and actual practitioners of magic. We will explore this engaging topic. Do YOU do prayer? Do YOU do magic?
