Eclectic duo Mare Wakefield and Nomad are returning to Silver City for another benefit concert at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Silver City on Saturday, October 12 at 7:00 pm.

Featuring award-winning Southeast Texas songwriter Mare Wakefield on guitar and Turkish-born, classically-trained Nomad on piano and accordion, the husband-and-wife team has been called  “Cozy brilliance … the merger of Natalie Merchant, Shawn Colvin and Dolly Parton” by the Louisville Observer and "Lovely  --  a little bit old country, a lot contemporary folk"  by the New York Times. Mare & Nomad are former Kerrville NewFolk Finalists and Falcon Ridge Emerging Artists, and had an original song featured in a 2017 Lifetime TV Movie. They are currently touring in support of their latest record, Time to Fly (2018), which was the #2 record for the month for February 2018 in the Folk DJ Radio Charts.

Mare and Nomad will be performing October 12 at 7:00 pm at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Silver City, 3845 N. Swan Street, just north of the PNM building. Tickets are $10, and proceeds from this event will help to continue the work that the UUFSC Social Justice Committee does in supporting immigration reform, confronting income inequality, climate change awareness and other social justice issues in our larger community.
