Silver City, NM, July 8, 2020--For Immediate Release. The Gila National Forest, Silver City Ranger District is pleased to announce that wood chips are available. The wood chips are a residue from chipping activities on the Tadpole Fire. 

The wood chips are free, and you do not need a permit. We recommend loading during daylight hours. You must be able to load your own chips and please remember to cover the load. There are two locations: the first location is at the junction of NM Hwy 15 and Meadow Creek Road (FR 149) - go west (the first left) off FR 149 and there are two piles. The second location is at Pine Flats at the junction of NM Hwy 15 and FR 4086J about 1/10 mile from the highway.
