In partnership with the Gila National Forest, the Silver City Watershed Keepers are organizing a trash cleanup in the upper watershed on November 7 from 9 am - noon. Volunteers will meet at the Jose Barrios Elementary School parking lot and caravan to the site on Bear Mountain Road. Trash bags, gloves, and trash pickers will be provided. Social distancing will be practiced and facemasks are required.

As a citizens' water resources stewardship program, the Silver City Watershed Keepers is committed to engaging community members in protection and restoration of the Silver City Watershed. Illegal dumping and littering are an ongoing threat to the health of our watershed and its ecosystem.

The Gila National Forest has identified several areas in the upper watershed off of Bear Mountain Road that are heavily impacted by littering and illegal dumping. Trash diminishes enjoyment of our public lands, degrades water quality downstream, and can pose a danger to people and wildlife.
