The 2023 Mimbres Valley Farmers' Market opens for business this Saturday, July 15, at a temporary location, the Roundup Lodge in Mimbres, 91 Acklin Hill Rd, just west of the San Lorenzo Elementary School. The market charges no vendor fees, so growers, bakers, and preservers are welcome.
For those selling their wares, setup begins at 9:30 and vending is from 10 A.M. through 12 P.M. Gardeners and other interested parties should contact market manager, Bill Overholt, at billover@ufl.edu or call or text 772-828-9614. The market will accept SNAP benefits (EBT CARDS ARE WELCOME!) and has applied for "Double Up Bucks."
To brighten a room, take home a fresh flower bouquet created by Chelsea Rittchen. Patrons can also pick up home-grown summer squash, kale, dried herbs, medicinal salves, and fresh baked goods.
Valerie McCaffrey will have blackberry and strawberry plants, along with herb plants (lemon balm, parsley, garlic chives), tomato, candy onion, and summer squash starts on hand. Also available will be a selection of pygmy, variegated, black and green bamboo plants for your patio, ground cover or living fence.
MVHAL's mission is to improve the health, well-being, and quality of life for the people of the Mimbres Region (defined as the communities that lie along and around NM State Hwy 61 and 35) by supporting local programs that promote healthy food for all, community bonding, and improved access to health careāin particular for our elderly and very young.
