Silver City –We are officially back to school and that means fall programming at the Silver City Public Library. We are excited to offer year around programming and have a lot of fun things to offer you.

The Summer Reading Program is made possible by the Friends of the Library.

Let jump right in. We have most of our programming on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. First, we have kits from the State Library. On September 1 at 4pm, we have Architect’s Delight. Learn what goes into designing buildings. The kit shows you how to create a building by planning out and then making a prototype.

On Sept. 5 at 4pm, we have Art Bots. Use technology to create art. You will use circuits to create a robot that will draw with or for you.

Saturday, Sept. 9 is Future Engineers at 1pm. Do you like playing with LEGO? Then you could be a future engineer. Learn how to create and be imaginative. Come play with LEGO.

Next, is the first of two movies. We will be watching The Secret of Nimh on September 12 at 4pm. The movie is about a mouse who has to go on a great adventure to save her kid. This movie is about the power of family and good vs evil. There will be popcorn.

Candy Sushi is back on Sept. 14 at 4pm. This will be happening at Penny Park. Create a fake sushi roll with Rice Krispies, Swedish Fish, Tootsie Rolls and more! The Rice Krispy is your base but the rest is up to you!

The Community Partnership for Children will hold a Color Run on September 16 at 10 am. This iinvolves different distances for ages to run while playing with color paint powder. The Silver City Public Library will have a quiet corner where we will be doing a story time and a craft. The run is a fundraiser to support children’s health and education in Grant County. This is a fun day with the family to run around and play.

Do you like video games? How about Minecraft? We have a Minecraft club on September 19 at 4pm. Come Explore Realms and go on adventures. Build new worlds and fight mobs.

Build and program robots with us, September 21 at 4pm. We have LEGO Mindstorms which is a robot you build from the ground up and Ozobots which is a robot that follows whatever line you draw.

Saturday Story Time with toys returns in September on Sept. 23. There will be a coloring page but no craft.

The second movie will take place on Sept. 26 at 4pm. This one will be Kubo and the Two Strings. Kubo is a descendant of gods. He will go on a quest to find his father and along the way he might just find out who he is as well. There will be popcorn.

Game Day for all ages will be held on September 29 at 4pm. This is a Friday. We have an assortment of games or you can bring you own. We have things like Clue, Scrabble, Battleship, playing cards, Hedbanz, and so much more. Come play games with us. 

Finally on September 30t, we will have another Future Engineers. Do you like creating and building? Then you might be an engineer. We have a large collection of LEGO for you to tinker with. Build whatever you would like and learn what it means to create something with your own hands. Come play with LEGO.

Other ongoing, weekly events offered by the Library include:
·      Babytime Tuesdays at 10:00 am. Stories, songs, rhymes and movement for infants 0-24 months and their caregivers. Made possible by Imagination Library; and
·      Storytime Wednesdays at 10:00 am. Stories, songs, and rhymes for children up to five years of age and their caregivers.
