Mural2023 2The Silver City MainStreet Project and the Youth Mural Program are excited to announce a dedication for three Youth Mural Projects on Saturday, September 16, at 11:00 am in Main Street Plaza. 

The first mural to be dedicated on Saturday is located on the outside walls of the Main Street Plaza bathrooms. Funding for this mural was provided to the Youth Mural Program from a grant secured by the Silver City MainStreet Project. The ceramic mural highlights the preciousness of our riparian areas. Facilitating artist Zoe Wolfe led the project with Carol Brady and Teja Clark. The youth artists participating in the creation of this mural were Katrina Estrada, Julene Jaegers, Mia Estrada, Michaela Roacho, Keana Heurta, and Kaleena Reiter. 

Mural2023 3The second mural project, located on the back of the Oasis building, also highlights our rich riparian areas and was facilitated by then Western New Mexico University (WNMU) painting professor Jennifer Douglass, assisted by Ericka Burleigh and Jess DeMoss. Artists were WNMU art students Jasper Eyrich-Bingham, Laurel Edwards, Raven Meyers, Charlee Alexander, and Cate Howard and Aldo Leopold Charter School's Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) mural crew of Emma Blanco, Marin Farley, and Mia Riley. This project was funded by the Town of Silver City.

The final mural project to be dedicated on Saturday is located at Lion's Park and under the College Street Bridge. Led by Diana Ingalls Leyba and Jess DeMoss with help from Erika Burleigh, Teja Clark, and Sylvia Myers, the project addressed issues of way-finding and brightened the San Vicente Trail. Youth artists included Marin Farley, Evangelica Matinez-Munez, Makiah Grandino, Gusset Baker, Katherine Shaw, Mia Estrada, Micah Jo Heurta, Mauri Nelson, Meliani Diaz-Urbina, Deidranee Abeyta, Dakota Arnold,Aaron Asburn, Junior Casaus, Alicia, Garcia, Ella Jameson, Makayla Jaurequi, Alicia Martinez, Dominic Rasmyssen, Nadia Vasquez, Eleo Warner, Dara Werner-Raiter, Samuel Castello, Kyra Floyd, Kristopher Glover, Isaac Younger-Titus, Katlyn Arroyo, Dakota, Montenegro, Madisyn Montez, Zev River, Mia Riley, Emma Blanco,and Devyn Prest. This project was funded through a grant secured by the Silver City Main Street Project and Aldo Leopold Charter School's YCC Mural Crew.
