Forest staff will assist applicants navigating the job search and application process

The Gila National Forest is hiring forestry aids and forestry technicians for permanent seasonal and temporary summer positions for 2024. Forest staff will host an application workshop at the Silver City Library at 515 W. College Avenue, Silver City on October 27 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

“Next summer may seem like a long way off, but now is the time to be thinking about seasonal employment with the Gila National Forest,” said Gila National Forest Supervisor Camille Howes. “We’re excited to be offering new opportunities for permanent seasonal positions, that provide certainty of employment for job seekers, certainty of workforce for employers, and reduce the annual burden of hiring and laying off seasonal employees.”

The forest is seeking engineering, wildlife, and recreation technicians; visitor information, rangeland, and natural resource specialists; foresters, and wildland firefighters. Positions may be seasonal, not to exceed 1,039 hours per year, or permanent seasonal, which are scheduled to work for 13 pay periods and be off for 13 pay periods per year on an annual basis. Positions are entry-level, with built-in promotion potential.
