The public is invited to attend a presentation by the City of Farmington on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. at the Grant County Veterans Memorial Business and Conference Center.  Julie Baird, Deputy City Manager of the City of Farmington, Brandon Heard, Chief of Administration for the Farmington Fire Department, and Kristine Carlson Werito, the Administrator of the Regional Behavioral Health Clinic will share their community’s approach to substance abuse, mental health challenges and homelessness.  They will discuss in detail their creation of an alternative response unit and a joint intervention program to improve outcomes, reduce the strain on law enforcement and focus on preventive intervention.

Elected officials, behavioral health providers and law enforcement agencies are encouraged to attend with the hope that this presentation may spark ideas on what can be done in Grant County to enhance what is already being done and what is planned for the future to address these difficult issues.  There will be an opportunity for the audience to ask the three presenters specific questions about different aspects of their program.

The presentation is sponsored by the Town of Silver City in collaboration with the County of Grant.  Light refreshments will be provided courtesy of Western New Mexico University and several elected officials.
