There will be a Life Café Thursday, October 26, 4:00 – 5:30pm to discuss death at the Silver City Public Library, facilitated by certified death doula Lisa Jimenez. The Life Cafe will explore topics including conversations with loved ones; advance directives and other planning tools; green burials; estate planning; life celebrations; home funerals, Hospice and more. There is no intention to lead people to specific actions, conclusions, products or services. Join us for a presentation by award-winning author Katharine Holabird. Author of the Angelina Ballerina books, her works are adored by children the world over, and her newest series Twinkle is set to be a classic in the making. Katharine will be talking about the inspiration behind her works, the process of creating picture books, and she’ll read from a new Angelina chapter book! Book Talk: Deputy Death

On Friday November 3, at 3:00pm the Silver City Public Library will host Mar Bartlett to speak about the memoir of her late husband Barty Bartlett. The book, entitled Deputy Death, relates Bartlett’s experiences as a traffic accident investigator and long-time Sheriff’s Deputy in Maryland. Deputy First Class Barty Bartlett was an officer of the law, protector, skilled accident investigator, devoted family man and a ghost whisperer. In his memoir, DFC Bartlett recounts tales from a career spent investigating and reconstructing traffic accidents to find the truth hidden in the twisted remains. Library Concert: Peter Fletcher, classical guitarist, at the Silco

On Thursday, November 9, at 4:00pm classical guitarist Peter Fletcher will perform at the Silco Theater in a free concert sponsored by the Friends of the Library. Peter Fletcher is an American classical guitarist based in Detroit and New York City. Peter offers an audience friendly, solo recital including repertoire that runs the gamut from the Renaissance Period through the 20th Century. This season’s program includes works from Bach, Jean-Baptiste Besard, Giuliani, Paganini, Manuel Ponce, and more. Book Talk: Kris Neri’s latest mystery Magical Mushrooms

Kris Neri will read from Magical Mushrooms and talk about the Samantha Brennan & Annabelle Haggerty Magical series. She’ll also be happy to answer any writing-related questions. She will sell and sign copies of her books. Magical Mushrooms is the third adventure in the award-winning, humorous Samantha Brennan & Annabelle Haggerty Magical Mystery series, featuring a quirky, confused psychic who teams up with a contemporary Celtic goddess hidden within the FBI.
Kris Neri’s novels have been honored by such prestigious awards as the: Agatha, Anthony, Macavity, Lefty, International Book Award, and New Mexico-Arizona Book Award. Her novels have been honored with three Lefty Award nominations for humor. She is a four-time New Mexico-Arizona Book Award winner for her own novels, and books to which she's contributed.
