Each year, the Silver City Rotary Club offers two $1,500 college scholarships to qualified graduating seniors. In the past, these scholarships were awarded to students embarking on an academic program at an accredited college or university. The club has now announced that this year scholarships will also be available to students who plan to attend vocational or trade schools or enroll in vocational programs in colleges or universities. In addition, the club has decided that the scholarships can be used to defray the cost of on-campus room and board or to pay for textbooks or other materials or tools needed for the programs the students will be attending.

Students applying for the scholarship should have a high school GPA of at least 2.5, should be able to demonstrate a commitment to their proposed field of study, should have a history of community service or leadership in the spirit of Rotary’s motto of Service above Self and should be able to make a strong case of financial need.

The scholarship application is now available online. For further information, students should go to the Rotary Club website at www.silvercityrotary.org  and click on the link to the scholarship guidelines found on the home page. The deadline for receipt of completed applications will be February 29, 2024. By that time, not only the online application but also all supporting materials must have been submitted to the club.

Questions about the application process should be directed to Vladimir Gnilozubov at (575) 517-9017.
