SILVER CITY, NM, Nov. 20, 2022 – All Gila National Forest offices will be closed Thursday, November 23 for Thanksgiving. Some offices may also have limited services on Friday, Nov. 24. Visitors are encouraged to call ahead to the appropriate ranger station for information on availability of services.
“Thanksgiving is an opportunity to reflect on and appreciate the abundance we encountered over the past year,” said Gila National Forest Supervisor Camille Howes. “This Thanksgiving, I am grateful for all of the visitors, volunteers, partners, educators, and employees who step up every day to share in the responsibility of caring for the land.”
A large influx of visitors is expected on the Gila National Forest this weekend. Visitors are encouraged to prepare for your visit this holiday weekend by exploring the many recreational opportunities the Gila National Forest has to offer at https://www.fs.usda.gov/recmain/gila/recreation .
