Dr. Doug Dinwiddie will be the Rotary speaker on December 5, 2023. Dinwiddie is a historian and a member of the Board of Directors of the Ft. Bayard Historical Preservation Society. His topic will be: “Developments ongoing and planned for Ft. Bayards’ Historic Efforts.”

According to an online biography, Dr. Dinwiddie grew up in Pinos Altos. He went to Silver High School and earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in history from WNMU and received his Ph.D. in history and political science from Northerns Arizona University. He served as curator and then director of the WNMU Museum from 1974 till 1987 and then taught Social Science at NMSU-Carlsbad, where he retired as a full Professor in 2009. He subsequently also taught at Front Range Community College and Colorado State University in Ft. Collins, CO. In 2015 he and his wife, Becky, retired to Pinos Altos, and both became active in the Ft. Bayard Historic Preservation Society.

The Rotary meeting will be held at the Silver Bowling Center - Ten Pin Lounge at 2020 Memory Lane, Silver City from 12-1 p.m. The meeting is free and open to the public. If you desire lunch, order from the menu in the cafeteria and it will be delivered to your table.
