chalaChala Werber will be the Rotary speaker on December 12, 2023.  Werber’s topic will be: “The WNMU greenhouse and possible future greenhouses, as well as Tree Campus USA designation, and the possibility of an official campus-wide arboretum.”

Born in Muir Beach, CA, Chala first came to this area 1974. She is multi-lingual as a result of having lived in 5 different countries and having spent at least one summer in 4 others. Chala has attended several universities but earned her undergraduate and master’s degrees at WNMU. She has had successful careers in high-end fashion sales, non-profit management, graphics, and tech before settling on horticulture.  She is currently the Horticulture Coordinator for WNMU, and above all she is the mother and sole parent of an “amazing” 15-year-old girl.

The Rotary meeting will be held at the Silver Bowling Center, Ten Pin Lounge at 2020 Memory Lane, Silver City from 12-1 p.m. The meeting is free and open to the public. If you desire lunch, order from the menu in the cafeteria and it will be delivered to your table.
