 Dora Rodriguez is an advocate and activist for migrants’ rights. She is a survivor of the 1980 tragedy that took place in the Organ Pipe National Monument, Arizona. A group of Salvadorans were fleeing civil war in their home country of El Salvador and thirteen of them died in the desert, including three minors. This tragedy led to her being one of the first persons assisted by the newly-forming Sanctuary Movement in Tucson, AZ.  

 Rodriguez will bring awareness about the truth of the brutal desert and what migrants face. Through the telling of her own journey, as well as her day-to-day experiences while volunteering at the southwest border towns, Dora will shed light on current immigration issues and the realities of what is happening.  

 Dora currently resides in Tucson with her husband and is the mother of five children and three grandchildren. Today she is the director of the non-profit organization Salvavision, which provides aid and support to migrants and those who have been deported. Her organization also works to provide financial and educational scholarships to those returning to their home countries so that they can develop sources of income there. 

 Childcare is available every Sunday. Zoey Cronin will lead a formal children's program on second and fourth Sundays.  

 Children are welcome to participate on any Sunday, but they will get the most out of the program if they attend second and fourth Sundays somewhat regularly. Family adults may stay for the children's program or attend the adult program. Children are encouraged to bring a small item that represents someone or something they are grateful for that week.

 There are speakers on the patio if you wish to listen to the service outside.

Masks are now optional, but their use is encouraged. We will continue to serve refreshments on the patio and in the building. Visitors are always welcome.
