Forest outreaching to help business owners register to compete for government contracts

QUEMADO, NM, Feb. 1, 2024 – The Gila National Forest is partnering with the Small Business Administration and Procurement Technical Assistance Center to help southwestern contractors become eligible for opportunities to win federal government contracts. Together, they are hosting a workshop at the Quemado High School on Highway 60 in Quemado, New Mexico from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 16.

“We have a lot of work to do and funding available to accomplish it. We need private industry to help us get the work done, and we want to support local economies by spending locally whenever possible,” said Gila National Forest Supervisor, Camille Howes. “So, we’re bringing out experts who can assist business owners understand and navigate the System for Award Management, also known as sam.gov, so that they can bid on and win federal contracts.”

The Gila National Forest is seeking specialists and services such as heavy equipment operations, well drilling, vault and septic pumping, general contractors, roofing, plumbing, electrical, window installation, HVAC, logging, tree thinning, tree marking, tree planting, seeding (to include aerial seeding), auto repair, auto body repair, veterinarians, farriers, and anyone else who could do work for the U.S. Government.
