FrankMerrittApril 7 at 10:00 am, 3845 North Swan Street – “The Keys to a Happy, Healthy, Long Life in Silver City”

Frank Merritt will talk about a recent assessment of senior health needs in Grant County, recent national research on what individuals can do to secure their own happy, healthy, long life, and refer to a Western Institute of Lifelong Learning (WILL) course that he taught in 2023 titled, “Have You Made Your Final Move-The Art of Living in the Right Place.”

If you’re hopeful and interested in continuing to reside in Silver City as you age, this talk is for you.  The information should be helpful and encouraging and can be used as a guide to help plan your future.

Frank Merritt has been involved in local senior issues for many years.  He served as an early WILL curriculum chairperson, then was the WILL president for four years, and recently has been a volunteer consultant to the board.  He served on the Hidalgo Medical Services advisory board for the Senior Services Network, and is on the board of the Village program that has recently begun in Silver City to address meeting senior health needs as one ages in their own home.

Merritt has a background in public school education at all levels, spent a decade as a therapist helping adoptive children adjust to their new home, and finished his career teaching Classroom Management for teachers at WNMU’s School of Education.

Childcare is available every Sunday. Zoey Cronin will lead a formal children's program on second and fourth Sundays.

Children are welcome to participate on any Sunday, but they will get the most out of the program if they attend second and fourth Sundays somewhat regularly. Family adults may stay for the children's program or attend the adult program. Children are encouraged to bring a small item that represents someone or something they are grateful for that week.

There are speakers on the patio if you wish to listen to the service outside.

UUFSC Safety Protocol as pursuant to our most recent UUA Guidelines:

Masks are now optional, but their use is encouraged. We will continue to serve refreshments on the patio and in the building. Visitors are always welcome.
